“Iranian Physicians Informative Database” in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for urgent measures of that organization to prevent Islamic republic from using chemical gases against demonstrators in Iran by the anti riot forces.
in this letter enumerates the immediate and long-term risks of this type of gas on demonstrators and even on ordinary people living in cities where protests are being done, and as result he calls for experts to be sent to Iran to review destructive aspects of this dangerous chemical gases that were used in the form of New tear gas in the street riots. Since these new chemical gases cause fear in the people in its range, it is also called “the Fear gas”.
The full text of the letter is as follows:

Honorable Secretary General of the United Nations
Mr. Ban Ki-moon
As you might have heard on the news these days, it’s a while that some Iranian security forces use a new type of chemical gas to deal with people in street protests. Due to its harmful effects on human and the environment, it has become a concern for me and many of my colleagues throughout Iran.
These gases, which are experience results of chemical-microbial defense unit of Iranian Revolutionary Guards during the eight-year Iran-Iraq war, were first tentatively used in 2009 street protests in a limited basis, but during current protests (February 14th and February 20th) it was widely used against Iranian people.
Although the use of regular tear gas, which contains sulfur compounds producing sulfuric acid after it is released and results a burning sensation in the eyes and nose, is also an inhuman and abominable act, but due to the short half-life of these materials and their environmental compatibility, is not too concerning. But new chemical gases that are creating fear in its victims, known as the “Fear gas” contain CHLOROBENZALDOXIM NITRIL and small amounts of yellow rain and nerve gases like Sarin, Tabun  or Soman (in addition to the above compounds) which are organic phosphorous compounds and organophosphate pesticides. In some cases it causes severe symptoms among victims of these gases, such as dizziness, Chest pain, severe headache, double vision and blurred vision, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, bloody vomiting, abdominal pain and increased oral secretions, nose, eyes and respiratory systems and severe muscle pains. In several cases through which the victim’s blood were tested by our colleagues, an amount of Analyn phenyl; nitrite and sulfur was observed in their blood and they have also high levels of blood urea. Also because of the impact it has on human DNA, it can cause late complications and changes in human carcinogenesis. Moreover because of its long half-life, it can be washed by rain water going down the streets to the farms that use surface waters could cause terrible environmental effects.
Our colleague’s observations in clinics and emergency centers suggests that despite several days have passed of street protests of February 14th, Injuries symptoms in victims have not been healed and we are concerned about the delayed effects of this gas. And it’s while victims complain so much about new symptoms such as bloody vomiting and severe muscle aches and nausea these days on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, which confirms the wide use of these gases in recent riots.
According to the protocol 1925 Geneva prohibiting usage and production of chemical and biological weapons, which Iran is one of the signatories of this protocol as well, the unauthorized use of these gases is illegal. On the other hand these chemical gases are being used in public places where thousands of innocent men, women and children are in danger, those who may never participated in any riot.
Therefore, according to your responsibility as the secretary general of the United Nations and on the anniversary of the usage of chemical weapons by Iraqi government against the people of Halabja in 1988, I request that you do whatever in your power to immediately stop the usage of these chemical gases against the people in Iran and if necessary send an expert team to research the destructive effects of such gases.
